I bought this book to use with my 5 year old daughter. It is almost like a baby book or memory book. There are places for a few photos and to write age information. It is interspersed with meaningful sayings. There are 2 lines for each day of the year where the parents are supposed to write down what they like about the child that day. In addition to writing nice stuff like "I like how you shared nicely with your brother today", and "I like how you tried so hard at your soccer game today", it is also a great place to write down all of the funny things your children say that you never want to forget. For example, "I like you when said, 'Mommy, do the clouds turn into stars at night?"" and "I like when you said, "Mommy, if you cook a pine cone will you get a pineapple?"' It is also a great place to write about the things you do together that you never want to forget. "I like when you make Mommy tea parties in your room." This book is such a great way to remind your child of all the things you love about him or her. My daughter beams every night when she reads what we wrote that day in her I Like Book. It's a wonderful way to end the evening. Don't pass this book up...I promise it is worth the 10 seconds it takes to write one thing you like each night or when you can. The quotes and illustrations sprinkled throughout the book are precious.
The I Like Book has significantly raised the level of excitement at bedtime for my 6 year old son. He truly CANNOT WAIT to find out what I like about him each day. And he loves the opportunity for my husband, a babysitter, or grandmom to fill in the blanks if they are tucking him in on any particular night. From a parent's perspective, I LOVE that I have the opportunity to reveal to my child what I like about him on a daily basis. Life gets nuts for us - we are constantly running from here to there and in our whirlwind, it's too easy forget to tell our children WHY we love them. To me, it's my redemption from a crazy day. I feel more at peace as I tuck him in, knowing that he feels a great sense of pride in himself. I would recommend this book to ANYONE with children - no matter what their age. This book can only strengthen and build up relationships, self-esteem, and create happy hearts.

I buy items from all the time but this is the first time that I have taken the time to write a review. I LOVE these books! I got the i like book for my three year old a couple of months ago. I try to jot something down in it every day or as often as I can. Some of the ones that I have put for him are, i like....... the way you say "Thank you very much" without being told to, i like....the way you throw a ball, i like....that you are so loving, i like...the way you don't give up when something is hard to do. He asks me to read him "My Book" all the time and has the greatest look on his face when I do. What an incredible, easy concept that they came up with. There are even a couple of places to put his picture in the book and I think that it will be great when we are reading it in the future years to see a picture of how he was in that particular one. I also have the one for couples. That one is great because with a toddler in the house it is very easy to forget to tell your partner all of your "likes" too. Great thing to read when I may be a little frustrated with my hubby and need a reminder of why I love him so much! Hey - I can see the one for my son coming in VERY handy when he becomes a teenager!

This book is perfect for anyone with pre-school to middle school aged kids. My girls LOVE to read what we've written about them. I can see this book being a treasure for years to come.

I think of this as sort of a baby book for older children. When children are able to understand the word like, it is a great opportunity to discuss what exactly you like about them and the things that they do. The wonderful illustrations give you ideas for starter points. I bought an i LIKE book for each of my children and have spent some quality time with each child documenting and discussing some things in their lives. It helps slow life down just a bit and help to enjoy the moment.
